3 Pieces Of Home Automation Have Changed The Industry

Troy Murray

Home security is becoming an extremely popular industry, and for a very good reason. There was approximately 3.7 million break-ins in the United States each year from 2003 to 2007. Along with break-ins come other problems, but the home security industry has gotten much better. Home security used to simply be motion sensors, door sensors, and window sensors, but home security companies have seen the need to improve, and they have done just that. This article is going to discuss three pieces of home automation equipment that took the home security industry from home security to home security automation

The Home Security Camera

Home security cameras have been around a very long time, but they have finally found a way to integrate them into the security system. The best thing about home automation systems is that everything can be controlled and accessed by smart phone or a computer. So, you will be able to look at live video footage of your home from wherever you are. Another huge benefit of having a new home security camera is the footage is recored off site. It used to be that home security cameras were useless because the thief could take the security camera and the footage with it, but now the footage is uploaded immediately to a secure website.

Automatic Door Locks

Dead-bolting your doors is by far the best way to ensure that your doors are shut and locked. With a home automation system, you will have control over your deadbolts. If you are away on vacation, you can actually check and make sure that your doors are locked. It comes in handy when needing to unlock doors for people as well. You no longer need to give a key to anyone, but you can let them in.

Automated Thermostat

Perhaps one of the most innovated incorporations to the home automation family is that of a smart thermostat. The smart thermostat can be programmed to any daily routine, so it is not as active when you are at work, but kicks on 20 minutes before you get home. Or you can manually change the temperature when you are about to get home. If the automated thermostat senses a sudden shift in temperature, it can actually contact the local fire department, but it also shuts off the air conditioning unit. The thermostat saves individuals a lot of money, but it also gives added fire protection.
